What You’ll Do:
- Drive & Transport: Safely transport dogs to and from our private dog ranch in Montara, with a pre-set driving route for your four-legged precious cargo passengers.
- Adventure Walks: Lead groups of dogs on exciting off-leash excursions, where they’ll run, play, sniff, and socialize in a secure, clean environment.
- Daily Reports: Capture the fun by taking photos daily and writing short updates about each dog’s adventure, keeping clients informed through our app.
- Training & Certification: Complete Top Dog SF’s Dog Walker University, Pet First Aid/CPR certification and ongoing dog training certifications ensuring you’re equipped with the knowledge to care for the dogs and grow expertise in the dog behavior field.
What We’re Looking for:
- Dependable & Safe: You’re always on time, safety-focused, and ready to follow protocols to keep both dogs and yourself safe.

- Driver’s Skills: You’re comfortable driving a company van in city traffic, navigating parking, street cleaning, hills, and the occasional construction zone.
- Team Player: You’re able to work both independently and collaboratively, with great attention to detail and communication skills.
Job Duties:
- Pick up and drop off dogs in company vans, ensuring safe transport.
- Lead group dog walks at our secure ranch, providing fun and safe playtime.
- Take photos and write daily updates for clients in our app.
- Keep the company van clean and organized; report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
What You Need:
- A valid California Driver’s License (Regular Class C) with a clean driving record and 5+ years of city driving experience (preferred).
- Ability to work Monday to Friday, with shifts from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm or 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Rotating weekend/evening availability may be required.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and managing up to 15 dogs at once (with assistants).
- Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs and complete physical tasks like walking, bending, squatting and kneeling.
- A smartphone (iOS or Android) for scheduling and reporting.

Your Role as a Doggie Ranch Attendant
You’ll be the heart and soul of the dog ranch, ensuring our pups are safe, happy, and active! Your duties include:
- Supervising and engaging dogs in safe, stimulating group play.
- Setting up, cleaning, and maintaining the ranch.
- Creating fun, shareable content for social media.
- Following training plans provided by Top Dog SF trainers.
- Ensuring the safety of dogs during arrivals, departures, and playtime.
- Observing and reporting on dogs’ health and behavior.
- Maintaining cleanliness by disinfecting play areas, water bowls, and equipment.
What You Bring to the Team

Position: Small Dog PlayCare Attendant
About the Role:
As a Small Dog PlayCare Attendant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the happiness, safety, and well-being of our small canine clients. Guided by our D.O.G.S. Core Values, you’ll provide care that emphasizes positive reinforcement, professional safety standards, and opportunities for socialization and growth. From supervising playgroups to engaging in enrichment activities, your role will help dogs thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Playgroups: Oversee small dog playgroups, ensuring a safe and positive social environment.
- Follow Training Plans: Implement positive reinforcement training methods and follow behavior plans designed by Top Dog SF trainers.
- Basic Care: Feed, walk, clean up after dogs, and administer medications as needed.
- Cleanliness: Maintain high hygiene standards by sanitizing play areas, crates, floors, and common spaces.
- Health Monitoring: Observe dogs for any changes in behavior or health and report concerns to management.
- Engagement: Facilitate structured play and enrichment activities to promote physical and mental stimulation.
- Customer Service: Communicate with pet parents, providing updates and addressing inquiries. Handle check-ins and check-outs using our software (training provided).
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Prior dog care experience preferred, but not required – we’ll train you!
- Passion: A genuine love for dogs and commitment to their well-being.
- Understanding of Positive Reinforcement: Familiarity with or willingness to learn modern, science-based training techniques.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Puppy Counselor for Top Dog SF
Top Dog SF is one of the Bay Area’s leading professional dog training and walking companies. Our training methods are a modern, science based using positive reinforcement techniques.
Since 2004, we have offered an award-winning pet care service, exercising and training dogs while teaching owners how to have a well-rounded confident urban dog. We are currently hiring for a puppy counselor position within our unique, customized and growing Puppy Head Start Program. Puppy head start promotes early learning of critical foundational skills for puppies between 8-13 weeks, that supports the comprehensive development for puppies. We cover off on the basics of training and help establish play and social skills. Puppy head start provides essential skills through participating in this program and prepares puppies for life both in the home and in public.
This is an amazing opportunity for an individual looking to learn more about animal behavior, development and training. Previous dog experience ideal, but not required as we’ll train you. The puppy counselor position is ideal for someone getting started in the growing pet care industry. At Top Dog SF, we are proud to be locally owned and operated, committed to developing our employees, promoting from within, and always striving to improve our services.
The basics:
- Working with the Puppy Head Start Program clients and their puppies from Monday through Friday, 7:30am –3:30pm, approx. 30 – 35 hours per week.
- Patience, empathy and awareness will be needed in this role.
- Much of the day is on your feet with pups under your feet, being able to react quickly is needed.
- You will receive on-the-job training that includes puppy socialization, dog body language, reinforcing good play skills, proper dog communication, positive reinforcement training and basic learning theory.
- Provide a safe and positive learning environment for the puppies, enabling them to have critical early enrichment
- Assist with training the puppies on the basics based on our training plans. You will collaborate with our certified trainers to provide enrichment activities and desensitization within our space.
- Cleaning up after the puppies in real time (dog urine and feces)
- Setting up and breaking down before & after school. This includes cleaning and disinfecting the office, preparing snacks, cleaning food toys each day and doing laundry.
- Preparing food (light kitchen duties, cutting of bait/ dog treats, ability to use a knife, etc.
- Assist trainers with a variety of tasks assigned
- Assist with Social media gathering content (photos & videos)
- Work with the trainers to do Daily/Weekly puppy report cards and progress, documenting/communicating issues and training needs.
- Provide support for Puppy Socials, Class Orientations, Special Projects, and Marketing Events (when COVID allows)
- You are available M-F with a set daily availability from 7:30am to 3pm year round. The majority of tasks assigned will require you to stand on your feet for several hours per day, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, walk up and down stairs; handle extra small and/or large dogs, and be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced & sometimes stressful environment with barking, distractions and general noise.
- You are detail oriented, have the ability to multi-task, deal with starting and stopping tasks directly to the meeting of puppy needs.
- You will be exposed to solvents, disinfectant, sanitation chemicals, dog dander, saliva, urine, feces, sharp puppy teeth, and nails can and will come in contact with hands, skin, and clothing.
- You have previous customer service experience and are capable of communicating with clients, staff, and vendors in both written and spoken English.
- You are comfortable working with little supervision and as well as collaborating when needed.
- You have the patience and empathy to work with puppies (up to 10 per group/day) while guiding them to learn.
- Able to be flexible with added additional tasks as needed.
- Class C California Driver’s License for driving as needed.
- Safe and accident free driver with 5 years of clean driving history.
- Previous dog experience ideal, but not required. We can teach the right person!
