Dog Walker and Driver for Top Dog SF in San Francisco!
- Dog Walker, AKA Adventure Group Walker!
- Dog Walkers drive our company vans, transporting up 12-16 dogs to and from San Francisco on a pre-planned route with other four-legged buddies.
- Arrival at our Coast-side Dog Ranch (private, safe, clean and enclosed) for an extraordinary group dog walking excursion filled with fun, exercise, socialization, chase, fetch and sniff with safety as a priority for our Top Dog SF clients.
- The company pays for all fuel, insurance, and maintenance costs for the company vans.
- Daily tasks such as social media, client report cards and Pre-Adventure Walk prep work needed as well.
- All of our dog walkers are paid to complete their certification through Top Dog SF’s Dog Walker University along with Pet First Aid and CPR trained within their first two months of hire.
- $20 – $25 / hour *(depending upon experience).
- Employees work approx. 30 – 35 hours a week ($2800 – $3500 monthly), Monday through Friday with a set schedule of either 8am to 3pm or 9am to 4pm. Alternating Fridays off is a possibility for the right candidate.
- Sick pay that starts accruing since hire date at 1 hour per every 30 hours worked available after 3 months.

- A valid California Driver’s License (Regular Class C) with 5+ years of city driving experience. Clean driving record a must.
- All employees must be able to check-in and out daily at our office located in the Inner Sunset District of San Francisco at 2121 Taraval St.
- Candidates must be available Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm or 9am to 4pm.
- The majority of tasks assigned will require you to walk or stand on your feet for several hours per day. Additional required duties are to drive, sit, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, walk up and down stairs; handle extra small and/or large dogs, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working with up to 15 dogs at a time off leash in a secure outdoor environment after sufficient training.
- You are comfortable completing a background check.
- Ability to follow client requests in regard to pick up and drop off instructions, and be flexible if things change.
- Capable of working in an outdoor environments (rain, wind, sunshine, cooler weather, dirt). Can adapt to traffic, the public and barking dogs while you work!
- You may be exposed to solvents, disinfectants, sanitation chemicals, animal dander, saliva, urine, feces, animal teeth, and claws may contact hands, skin, and clothing.
- You have previous customer service experience and are capable of communicating with clients, staff, and vendors in both written and spoken English.
- You are capable of working successfully with little supervision.
- You have the patience and empathy to work with puppies and other animals with special needs and requirements (medical and/ or behavioral concerns).
- You must own a smartphone (iOS or Android) with the ability to run our scheduling software (using data and GPS as needed).
- You can wear tennis shoes or boots to work. You must be prepared for a day working outdoors in a natural environment with groups of happy and excited dogs.
- We will need three professional references (we would prefer former managers).
- Virtual or in person interview is the next step in the process.
Small Dog PlayCare Attendant
- Supervise Playgroups: Oversee and manage small dog playgroups to ensure a safe and positive social environment.
- Provide Basic Care: Feed, walk, administer medications (if required), and attend to the basic needs of the dogs in your care.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep play areas, crates, and common spaces clean and organized to uphold a high standard of hygiene.
- Monitor Health and Behavior: Observe and report any changes in behavior, health issues, or concerns to the management team.
- Facilitate Play and Enrichment Activities: Engage dogs in play and enrichment activities to promote physical and mental stimulation.
- Customer Interaction: Interact with pet parents, providing updates on their dog’s activities and addressing any concerns or inquiries.
- Welcome clients to the shop, check in on each specific dog and understand their needs, or check out each dog with the client in the computer software. Basic computer skills are required; system-specific training is provided.

- Experience: Previous experience in a dog care setting is preferred but optional, as we’ll train you!

Working Hours:
The Small Dog PlayCare Attendant position operates full-day from 6:45 am to 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday. There are approximately two shifts per day, from 6:45 am until 3 pm. 7 hours a day with a one-hour lunch. The second shift is 12:30 pm to 6:30 pm with approximately 6 hours a day and 30 minute lunch.
We are open to hiring part-time (at least three days a week). Availability of 5 days a week is preferred, and the possibility of weekend shifts is forthcoming.
Compensation:
The hourly wage for this position ranges from $20 to $25, based on experience and qualifications.
Puppy Counselor for Top Dog SF

Since 2004, we have offered an award-winning pet care service, exercising and training dogs while teaching owners how to have a well-rounded confident urban dog. We are currently hiring for a puppy counselor position within our unique, customized and growing Puppy Head Start Program. Puppy head start promotes early learning of critical foundational skills for puppies between 8-13 weeks, that supports the comprehensive development for puppies. We cover off on the basics of training and help establish play and social skills. Puppy head start provides essential skills through participating in this program and prepares puppies for life both in the home and in public.
This is an amazing opportunity for an individual looking to learn more about animal behavior, development and training. Previous dog experience ideal, but not required as we’ll train you. The puppy counselor position is ideal for someone getting started in the growing pet care industry. The basics:
- Working with the Puppy Head Start Program clients and their puppies from Monday through Friday, 7:30am –3:30pm, approx. 30 – 35 hours per week.
- Patience, empathy and awareness will be needed in this role.
- Much of the day is on your feet with pups under your feet, being able to react quickly is needed.
- You will receive on-the-job training that includes puppy socialization, dog body language, reinforcing good play skills, proper dog communication, positive reinforcement training and basic learning theory.
- Provide a safe and positive learning environment for the puppies, enabling them to have critical early enrichment
- Assist with training the puppies on the basics based on our training plans. You will collaborate with our certified trainers to provide enrichment activities and desensitization within our space.
- Cleaning up after the puppies in real time (dog urine and feces)
- Setting up and breaking down before & after school. This includes cleaning and disinfecting the office, preparing snacks, cleaning food toys each day and doing laundry.
- Preparing food (light kitchen duties, cutting of bait/ dog treats, ability to use a knife, etc.
- Assist trainers with a variety of tasks assigned
- Assist with Social media gathering content (photos & videos)
- Work with the trainers to do Daily/Weekly puppy report cards and progress, documenting/communicating issues and training needs.
- Provide support for Puppy Socials, Class Orientations, Special Projects, and Marketing Events (when COVID allows)
- You are available M-F with a set daily availability from 7:30am to 3pm year round. The majority of tasks assigned will require you to stand on your feet for several hours per day, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, walk up and down stairs; handle extra small and/or large dogs, and be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced & sometimes stressful environment with barking, distractions and general noise.
- You are detail oriented, have the ability to multi-task, deal with starting and stopping tasks directly to the meeting of puppy needs.
- You will be exposed to solvents, disinfectant, sanitation chemicals, dog dander, saliva, urine, feces, sharp puppy teeth, and nails can and will come in contact with hands, skin, and clothing.
- You have previous customer service experience and are capable of communicating with clients, staff, and vendors in both written and spoken English.
- You are comfortable working with little supervision and as well as collaborating when needed.
- You have the patience and empathy to work with puppies (up to 10 per group/day) while guiding them to learn.
- Able to be flexible with added additional tasks as needed.
- Class C California Driver’s License for driving as needed.
- Safe and accident free driver with 5 years of clean driving history.
